I had the day off of school today, so I took a little trip to the music store to browse for some new tunes. I ended up buying the new Ryan Adams album, Cardinology. This guy is seriously talented. Not only has he released around 11 solo albums, but he has also made several albums with his band The Cardinals, and just came out with his own book! He is definitely one of those artists that can render a million different emotions in his audience. Some songs are heartbreakingly sad (such as The Shadowlands) while others make you feel extremely happy (To Be Young). My favourite song, however, remains Come Pick Me Up. Give it a listen, and while you're at it, find as many songs of his as you can. You will NOT be disappointed.Anyway, I'm off again- I promise that next time I will talk about something more than just music. Perhaps I'll tell you all about my plan of attack for finding a summer job...

Have you ever listened to music, and felt the emotions that the artist felt while writing? Like peering through a gateway at the inner most thoughts of one as guarded as a medieval castle, whose sole way of letting out those bottled up feelings is through lyrics. Lyrics shared with millions, yet taken for granted as just another set of words sung to a catchy tune.
ReplyDeletei had to read that twice...you really express yourself poetically. and you know what- what you're saying is absolutely true. people don't realize the lyrics of a song describe something that the artist actually experienced and felt. they are definitely taken for granted.
ReplyDeleteI am indeed unintentionally poetic. I would never admit to being so publically under normal circumstances, however, it is the internet, so I feel somewhat safe saying so. Glad you like my blog so far, gets tiresome writing everything down in a notebook, always worried about sharing it with anyone. Hopefully I do not get too crass or offensive. I know I will, but lets just hope no one takes anything personally. I speak my mind, I am blunt, and although what I say may sound nice when I type it, it can be quite offensive to the select few at times.
